The water hammer relief valve consists of a main valve, a high-pressure hydraulic pilot valve, tubing, and other components. It features hydraulic automatic control and provides positive, unconditional relief of high-pressure water hammer.
The main valve operates with a quick-opening and slow-closing action, which prevents water hammer caused by the valve's own closure.
This valve is installed on the main pipeline at the pump outlet, close to the source of potential water hammer such as check valves or pipeline overpressure points. It is connected via a tee (T-branch) connection. By unconditionally relieving high-pressure surges, it acts as a critical safety backup for pumping stations, significantly enhancing system safety and reliability.
